The history of Hardev Motors started in 1985 when K.K. Thakur, named Raju came to Manali.
He was the first to start the business of biking in the whole region.
The first trips to Leh (Ladakh) were offerd by him.
Ladakh was opened for tourists in 1974 and even after 15 years a complete tribal area.
The famous Manali-Leh highway was hardly more than a path through the wilderness.
Raju was the first in Manali who modified a bike. His modification set one more milestone in the biking business.
Rajus eldest son Sonu adopted his fathers passion - only aged 13 - and did his first bike trip to Leh. With this, he is the youngest boy who ever crossed the second highest pass in the world.
sonu started running his fathers business.
Hardev Motors became a true family company
Many things have changed since those days:
The way from manali to leh is a long highway - still hard to cross.
Leh became from a tribal area to a flourishing town with growing economy and touristic infrastructure.
And Hardev Motors added several tours to different regions in India to their programm.
Soon, the workshop will move to near-by Vashisht.
And future becomes history...
