It really depends where you live & work in LA, since its a sprawling city/county. I am also a native Southern Californian, and while I wouldnt go so far as to say 2 hours is completely normal, it is not at *all* unusual. I dont EVER want to own a house (unless I miraculously come into enough money to buy it outright and have lots left over for taxes, maintenance, insurance, etc and to hire someone to oversee it all!) (Okay, once a month theres the ferry schedule/Seattle traffic to plan around to get to Sea-Tac, but walking down the hall to the office the rest of the time more than makes up for it.). The only short commute Ive ever had was a 3-month retail job down the hill from my parents house, which was usually ~5-10 minutes. our employee is taking nude photos in our office and posting them to Facebook, company says only moms can work at home, was I rude for turning down a carpool, and more, overreaching wellness meetings, rambling coworker monopolizing trainings, and more. Right now Im willing to make less money to work at a job with flexible hours (I work 7am-3/4pm) so I can avoid traffic. The commute is one of my top criteria in deciding whether or not to take a job. When I lived in Houston, my commute for 30 miles was about 45 minute-1 hour drive in the morning and 1.5 hour drive in the evening.
