Spiti Valley, with an average height of 12,500 feet above sea level, is a desert mountain that lies nestled between India and Tibet. With clear shining blue skies, snow-capped mountains piercing up, and turquoise greenstreams. This 10-day Spiti Valley and Kinnaur round trip on the Hindustan-Tibet highway and the Manali – Kaza highway is by far the most unforgettable drives you’ll take in your life.

The Spiti Valley is a desert mountain valley located high in the Himalaya mountains in the north-eastern part of the Indian state of Himachal Pradesh. The name “Spiti” means “The Middle Land”, i.e. the land between Tibet and India.

Spiti valley is accessible throughout year via Kinnaur from Shimla route on a difficult 412 km long road. Tourists from outside India need inner line permits to enter Spiti through Kinnaur. Spiti’s border starts from Samdo [74 km from Kaza] which is quite near to IndiaChina border. In summer it can be reached via Manali through Rohtang pass and Kunzum pass. Manali is 201 km away from Kaza headquarter of Spiti subdivision. Due to high elevation one is likely to feel altitude sickness in Spiti.

Day 1- Manali Arrival

In the morning we will come to pick you up at the Kullu Airport or at the bus station and drive you to your hotel. Our representatives will be there to provide you with all the services and soon you’ll be introduced to the bikes and Team, who will explain to you all the details about the tour. Be ready for your ride, and explore/discover while learning how to survive in the Himalayas! Manali -Banjar 92Km

We will begin our motorcycle trip in direction of Banjar Valley. This Valley is also known as the “Valley of Tranquility” . Banjar is noted for
the splendid scenery, sparkling streams, lakes, meadows, thick forests, and high mountain ranges. These majestic hills are covered by Pine and Deodar Forest. Sprawling Apple Orchards and the Mountains will make you feel like in veritable heaven upon the earth.

Banjar -Sarahan 140Km

We will follow our route in the direction of Saharan, the gateway of Kinnaur, which is known as the land of fairy tales and fantasies. Kinnaur has a spectacular terrain of lush green valleys, orchards, vineyards, snow-clad peaks, and cold desert mountains. Kinnaur is extremely rich in flora & fauna and the culture, and language is different from other parts of the state. Criss-crossing is one of the most picturesque valleys in this region. we will follow the road to Sarahan which composes pictures of pastoral perfection, as the apple orchards, gardens of rare medicinal herbs, a variety of wildflowers, and fields surround the small hamlets with their slate-roofed houses. Bhimakali Temple is a famous temple is located in Sarahan, so a visit to the temple is planned. The temple’s unusual architecture and wealth of carvings have made it a resplendent example of the Pahari hill style.

Sarahan -Chitkul 107Km

Head to Chitkul through the beautiful Sangla valley surrounded by thick forests, apple orchards, rushing waters, and towering Himalayan ranges. Chitkul is the last inhabited village near the Indo-Tibet border and is renowned for its houses with either slate or wooden plank roofs, a Buddhist temple, and a small tower. Leopard!

Chitkul – Kalpa 62KM

We will take the road towards Kalpa, one of the biggest and most beautiful villages of Kinnaur. Situated at the height of 2758M above sea level and 110 km from Sarahan. Kalpa is the main village of Kinnaur. Across the river faces the majestic mountains of the Kinner Kailash range. These are spectacular sights early in the morning as the rising sun touches the snowy peaks with crimson and golden light.

Kalpa – Nako-Tabo

Ride to Nako. On the route, an amazing change of scenery awaits you. From the greenery of the scenic valleys, you’ll move to the stark magnificence of the high cold desert. We’ll make a halt to Nako, 3600M altitude, where you’ll be immediately absorbed by the traditional atmosphere and architecture. Founded in 996 AD, the village looks like it hasn’t changed in hundreds of years. In this program, we will visit the old temples, founded in the 10th
-11th century with fine sculptures and frescoes. Walk through the village, and enjoy the beautiful holy lake. After the visit, head to Tabo we will visit one of the most important Buddhist monasteries in the region. Founded in 996 CE Tabo, is the largest monastic complex of Spiti and has been declared a protected monument under the Archaeological Survey of India.

Tabo -Kaza 50Km

Gear up for the ride to Kaza, the capital and regional headquarters of Spiti valley. With freckles of green over dry weather, Spiti is a cold desert where the monsoon rain never comes. It is characterized by stark beauty, narrow valleys, and high mountains. A century ago, Rudyard Kipling in Kim
called Spiti “a world within a world” and ”a place where the god lives “. A description, that holds true to the present day.

Kaza-Kibber-Komic-Kaza 70Km

From Kaza, we’ll start riding to Kibber, which is the highest village in Asia. On the way, we’ll stop at “Key Monastery” , which is the largest / Oldest monastery and most colorful in Spiti. It was established in the 11th century. The monastery has ancient Buddhist scrolls and paintings. Before reaching our next destination, we’ll make a halt in Langza village, where we’ll climb to the large and colorful Buddha statue. We will visit the Spiti valley and nicely contrast it with the dark brown mountains and stark blue sky. We follow our route towards Kibber, Located at an altitude of 4300m. Kibber has only 80 houses and plenty of cultivation that contrasts sharply with the arid backdrop of lofty hills. We take the road again, in the direction of Komic. where if we are lucky then we’ll be able to find some fossils near the streams flowing from the mountains. After our archeological excavations, we will back to Kaza.

Kaza-Chnadratal Lake 70Km

We will take the road in the direction of the masterpiece Lake of Himachal Pradesh. Chandratal Lake or “Moon Lake” is a breathtaking place situated at a height of 4300 m. This sweet water lake is around 2.5 km wide. It can be visited only during three summer months. For the rest of the season, the lake remains frozen. This lake changing color, with the color of the sky is surrounded by the Chandra Bhaga mountain range which forms, the perfect backdrop. This magic view will take your breath away.

We will ride towards Manali, crossing places like Batal, Gramphu, and Rohtang pass. Batal is a small settlement situated in the Lahaul & Spiti. It’s 100KM away from Manali. Rohtang Pass is a point where two districts of Himachal Pradesh are connected. All around you will enjoy your ride in
the Himalayas with the new experience and will learn how to ride and survive in the Mountains.

In the morning, you are free to do some shopping for your family and friends. Online Booking

  • A deposit of 50% of the total estimated bill is required to hold the booking within 10 days of inquiry on a 100% confirms basis to secure your seat on our rides.
  • HARDEV MOTORS required the Rider/Pillion to Book your Seat 90 days before the ride, As In the Himalayas there are limited resources/Hotels/Other executive
    services to have a hassle-free ride.
  • 50% Due amount has to deposit on day 1st of your arrival.
  • According to your transfer details, a booking/confirmation letter will generate and send to you by mail for the visa process.
  • A PDF file of the ride will send to you by the Hardev Motors office team. Kindly carry a PDF file of your ride with inclusions and exclusions.

Motorcycle Security Deposit

  • Our motorcycles are third-party insured and according to INDIAN law there are no claims covered from that Insurance: Life/Motorcycle damages compare to
    EUROPEAN law.
  • A security amount of USD 150 has to deposit prior to your ride. Travel cheques are not accepted.
  • The company is not responsible for the bike’s damages. If the body or clutch plates are damaged because of rough riding the applicant will be charged. The
    total amount is refundable if there is no physical damage to the motorcycle.

Cancellation and Refunds

  • 40% of the total estimated bill is refundable until 60 days before the tour starts.  Above stipulated time, 0% will be refundable·
  • While on a ride in the rear extreme case by natural crisis/road blockage/Accident/snowfall/earthquake etc, Hardev Motors Holds the right to change Route plans /Abort/Detour, As rider safety is our prime concern. No amount is refundable in that condition.

Responsibility for the application

  • We are Riding in Asia and the Indian sub-continent so we will witness riding Cows, Monkeys, Road crossing/Schools, Villages, etc on the road, so we need to understand the riding speed to be maintained according to that expectation As well to have a safe ride on both ends (riders and Public). As we are riding to experience beautiful Nature, Culture, Lifestyle, History, and points of view of the region not to race.
  • Riding is a fatal disease so kindly confirm your health insurance and travel insurance. Hardev MOTORS is not responsible in case of physical/fatal injuries.
  • On our rides, we explore some of the untouched mountains and roads, To keep it still pure we carry garbage bags on backup jeeps so kindly feel free to ask the team
    where to dump Bottles/plastic bags.
  • We welcome and ride with riders from any Nation. Causing Fatal/Danger environs to other group members is not acceptable. Hardev Motors holds the right to remove you from the ride without notice and refund.

Riding Rules & Guidelines

  • “Speed thrills but kills” , According to Indian driving laws for Motorcycles 65KMPH is a valid speed. But this was not implemented on the road and you will see speeding
    cars on highways and accidents as well,
  • In the Himalayas (Ladakh, Spiti valley, Himachal Pradesh, Bhutan, Tibet, Northeast India) the Motorcycle speed will be 40-70KMPH depending on Road conditions/Water stream traffic, etc. For (Rajasthan, South India, West Coastal Ride) it’s 40- 85KMPH.
  • The Road Captain is a person who Knows the Road s, riding rules, Region situation, and the point of view of the people, No overtaking is allowed by him. As Pax’s of wolfs always travel in Group with Leader.
  • Certified Helmets, Riding Gears, and Riding Shoes are mandatory to join our rides. Your Safety is our prime concern.
  • Riders have to bring hydration bags. To avoid too much wastage of plastic bottles.
  • Carry your personal medical kit, Warm inners, and things to eat in a bag while you are riding.
  • ASIA and Indian-Sub continent most of the drive is left-hand side so ride As much as possible on the left-hand side especially in the Himalayas to avoid crashes while
    riding we must be aware of the Trucks as they carry heavy load there are not able to controls as quick as light vehicles can.
  • Clutch plates will burn off the motorcycle if you ride in half clutch.
  • Uphill and downhill riding rules to control motorcycle is to use hard gear braking system 50%on hard gear 25%Front brake & 25%Rear brake. While we ride uphill on the curve we use a little bit of front disc brake first to slow down the motorcycle and then hard gears to have enough power to climb with maximum left side riding. Totally the opposite while doing Downhill as Motorcycles are heavy and fast. First to drop down to hard gear than 25% front brake.
  • On some of the days on the itinerary, we have to ride early morning to avoid night rides.

Trip extension

If unforeseen circumstances necessitate a trip extension or if the participants decide
to extend the motorbike tour, additional costs are applicable.

Conditions to participate in our rides

  • To participate as a rider an individual has to be equal to or above the age of 21 years at the time of the tour and be in possession of a valid motorcycle driving license and international driving license (for foreigners), be in good health condition and have at least 2 or 3 years experience in riding a motorcycle.
  • As a pillion, an individual has to be equal to or above the age of 18 years at the time of the tour, in good health condition, and with at least some motorcycle co-riding
    experience.
  • A valid International driving license
  • Valid travel insurance.
  • Suite case is not allowed on a ride carry Rucksack bags/duffle bags.
  • Covid 19 RTPCR required.
