Manali is where Hardev Motors starts the day: Vashisht, a prepared Himalayan, and a briefing that already knows the weather on Rohtang and the tunnel. Motorcycle tours in Manali are not a transfer with a photo stop. They are the first real riding of a Himalayan week.
Hardev Motors has operated from Manali since 1985. The yard sits opposite Sita Cottage on MDR 29 in Vashisht, which is close enough to the Kullu valley road that a morning shake-down does not waste the day.
Riders fly into Bhuntar or overnight in Delhi and come up by road. We would rather you arrive a night early than race a pass on the first morning. Jet lag plus altitude is how good riders have a bad opening day.
From Manali the map splits: Lahaul and Leh, Spiti via Kunzum, Sach Pass and Pangi, or a quieter Kullu valley loop. The motorcycle is a Royal Enfield Himalayan scram 411 unless a private date says otherwise.
A Manali motorcycle tour can be a weekend in the valley or the start of a two-week expedition. Solang, Naggar, and the Atal Tunnel approach are useful first days. Rohtang is a ride, not a trophy, and the tunnel is how through-traffic now leaves the Kullu side.
Guided groups leave with a lead rider, a support vehicle, and bikes that have already been checked for mountain work. Custom dates use the same workshop. Self-guided rental is for riders who already know these roads and still want a Manali-prepared Himalayan.
The Kullu valley rides year-round with snow on the high side in winter. The high roads toward Leh, Spiti, and Sach Pass belong to summer and early autumn. Book Manali as a base in any month; book the passes only when they are actually open.
